El "Día de Muertos es una tradición mexicana que celebra a las personas difuntas entre el 1 y 2 de noviembre, honrándolos con recuerdos de ellos y con ofrendas que incluyen comida, pan, dulces, flores e inclusive en algunos casos, juguetes. Muchas personas visitan las tumbas de sus familiares para adornarlas con ofrendas y pasar un tiempo con ellos nuevamente.

The "Día de Muertos" is a Mexican tradition that celebrates the deceased between November 1 and 2, honoring them with memories of them and with offerings that include food, bread, sweets, flowers and even in some cases, toys. Some people visit the graves of their relatives to decorate them with offerings and spend time with them again.

El concepto de la ilustración era retratar una escena de dicha tradición, en la cual una persona rindiera tributo a un familiar fallecido, comparándolo con su futuro cuando falleciera también.

The concept of the illustration was to portray a scene from this tradition, in which a person paid tribute to a deceased relative, comparing it with his future when he also passed away.
